A murderer killed his two roommates & confessed to gunning down the victims.Mitchell Julio Morris, 20, is charged with three counts of aggravated murder and two counts each of murder and unlawful use of a weapon in connection with Friday's shooting. If convicted, a jury could sentence Morris to death, under Oregon law.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Morris intentionally killed Bailee Ray Southwick, 18, and MacKenzie Lyman, 21, at their home in Crooked River Ranch.
When detectives called to investigate the shooting arrived to the home, they discovered that Morris had left in Southwick's car. He was tracked down later that morning.
While being interviewed, Morris allegedly confessed to police.
"Morris stated that the three of them had not been fighting or arguing prior to him shooting" the men, a detective wrote.
Morris allegedly told police that Southwick was sitting on a couch inside the home before he left his bedroom and "immediately shot" him. He said Lyman was in her bedroom at the time. After hearing the gunshot, Lyman came out of her room. "Morris said he then turned the gun in MacKenzie's direction and fired another shot, killing her."
It is not clear what led to the killings.
Afterward, Morris threw the gun to the ground, packed a bag and left the residence, according to police.
Morris is scheduled to appear in court on March 4 at 11:30 a.m. for an arraignment.
